Company Profile
I studied both Architecture and Landscape Architecture and received my Bachelors of Landscape Architecture from the University of Oregon. My work first took me to San Francisco and then to New York where I became a licensed architect. I retain my license in the state of NY.
My first years practicing architecture ranged from historic preservation, corporate design, commercial and residential remodels. When an opportunity developed, I moved to Boston to start up my own business that integrated architecture and interior design for residential and commercial projects.
In 2002 I moved to Beijing for 3 years where I was involved in the design and development of a new addition to the ‘Western Academy International School’ and directed the renovation of two of my residences. I have traveled extensively in Europe but it was Asia that gave me a new approach to my views on design. The gardens of Japan reinforced my feelings that simplicity makes its own statement.
The integration of both disciplines of architecture and landscape design has allowed me to create seamless environments moving from inside to outside. After immersing myself in classic garden designs, I came away with the certainty that the elements of strong landscape design were the same as the strength of great architecture.
These principles are applied to residential, condominium projects, commercial and institutional spaces as well. The common effect throughout all my projects is harmony and timelessness. My strong sense of color, proportion and scale is a great asset that allows me to create spaces that are interesting and elegant. I follow the process of each project from conception through site analysis, design development to construction supervision.
